Defending women who defend themselves

Little green footballs has posted a report that an Iranian girl is sentenced to death for defending herself and her niece against rapists. It seems that, in the course of her defense, she killed one of the sons of bitches who were trying to rape her, and, by the laws of Shari'a, she will hang.

Where the hell is Amnesty International on this? Where is Gloria Steinem, now?
Well, gee, it makes my heart go pitapat to think that the Left is defending the rights of these people to follow their own "culture". So much for feminists actually looking out for the interests of women. I guess that only applies to women who have the good sense to be born in a sensible place, like Belgium or Berkley.

It is time that the so-called feminists start listening to the rest of us, when we say that feminism is not just about the right to have an abortion on demand. It is about protecting the rights of women everywhere -- in particular, the right of a woman to defend her life and her body against attackers (even those who claim the right of law in order to do so). It is about protecting the rights of women to think and be individuals.

IMO, it is high time rational women started telling the radical, man-hating, society-hating crowd that to be genuinely interested in the good of all women, you must have a sense of complete community, of the rightness of healthy family, and of humanity, inclusive. Men, women, and children are all part of this package, and to give short shrift to any one (individual or group) within this greater whole is to negate the entire of it.

Now is the time for NOW to speak, or forever be irrelevant.
