Earworm of the Day: Rise
There is nothing quite like having Johnny Rotten dancing through one's dreams…
I'm not sure this is the kind of thing to hunt down & play during a migraine, though. It's sure to cause more Problems…

Earworm of the Day: Ship Of Fools
There's nothing like catching some current political news to put this song into a person's head – no matter when or where it was current.
Some days make me want to emulate Emily Dickinson, and hide in my father's attic writing verses nobody will read in my lifetime. I'm not sure the bats would want to share the space with me, though.

Earworm of the Day: Big Thing
I'm not sure what prompted this. Usually if I'm hearing Duran Duran, it's one that's tied to a movie, part of the filming process, or something that gets a Pavlovian response, Well, that or anticipating mealtime in general.
When I'm thinking Big, it's usually Peter Gabriel, though. Or, on rare occasions, another eighties Big sound. So your guess is as good as mine, as to what might have prompted the switch-over.
But I don't expect that song to get stuck in your head. Not as long as there are so many other options available, today.

Earworm of the Day: Now We're Getting Somewhere
I don't know why this weekend would make me think of this band…
It's getting back to quiet, though.
Sadly.
Family has come and gone, and we're back to the regular occupants of this house.
We had a week of chaos, and I'm not sure how I'll cope, once again, with the quiet. It'll probably involve sitting and listening to a cat nag at me.
Enjoy the noise while you can.

Christine
Now she's in purple
Now she's a turtle…
There's nothing quite like a visual trigger, now, is there? I saw an image of a pair of purple shoes, a couple of days ago, and, one would think, naturally, that it would lead to the usual culprits when it comes to purple earworms. Or, something even sadder.
But Siouxsie Sioux seems to stick with me, into the new century. The Banshees captivated me from the first time I heard them. It doesn't hurt that their members ultimately were members of so many different influential bands of the era... but that's not why they're on my internal playlist. I hear them because they had their own catchy stuff.
And, of course, because, not only do I see purple, but the repetition gets reinforced when some wiseacre has to share a meme on social media…

Earworm of the Day: What I Like About You
Go up down jump around and still can't shake this tune, today. It almost had me talking in my sleep.

Earworm of the Day: Camouflage
One of the better modern ghost stories, I really can't complain that this song has chosen this time of year to rattle around in my head. It also doesn't hurt that Stan Ridgway sings it so credibly.

Earworm of the Day: State of Independence
I am not one of the many people who knew Donna Summer did a cover of this. Or that Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders did so, as well. I still hear it in Jon Anderson's voice, even though I just gave a listen to the genuinely captivating performances by both women. I suppose it doesn't help me that I went through three vinyl copies of this album, on my old turntable. It comes of having heard the title song of the Jon and Vangelis album on the radio once, and becoming set in my ways. I had fought the tendency toward fandom while Anderson was the front man for Yes, but it was the early eighties, and they wore down my resistance...
Also not hurting: Vangelis went on to provide the brilliant soundtrack for Blade Runner, which I have seen more times than I'm comfortable admitting to.

Earworm of the Day: Eugene
Move over, boy, Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley's got better things to do… like mess with my sleep patterns by running this cringe-worthy tune – which he co-wrote and co-produced with "Crazy Joe" Renda, & played electronic drums for – through my head in the pre-dawn hours. Don't ask me why. Probably something to do with politics or sportsball.
This track is not exactly his New York Groove, though.
