Really, I think it's mostly about size, for the books in that particular case -- and not much else. She has a very good spatial memory, so she doesn't need to file any further than "It fits on this shelf."
My own library is arranged... well... library-like (except for the part where the shelves look a whole lot like cardboard boxes with lists of titles and authors 'n' stuff on the outside).
