HBO gives me another reason not to subscribe

Big Love.

What with HBO now producing this series featuring the normal, everyday life of a polygamous "family" (according to my tv guide, it's set to begin next week) and mainstreaming a Mafia creep, added to Showtime's recent foray into whitewashing groups involved in terrorism and their freebie weekend of foaming liberal claptrap (Fahrenheit 9/11, the remake of The Stepford Wives, the remake of The Manchurian Candidate, and whatever that "Masters of Horror" tripe was that the Village Voice was gushing over last month), I'm increasingly grateful that I haven't bothered to get myself hooked up to cable or satellite tv. I may miss not watching "Cash In the Attic" on the Beeb, FOX news coverage, and the occasional Sabado Gigante show (I do enjoy applying my scant Latin studies to translating the Spanish -- and making a hash of it, I'm certain), but if I need a fix of any of the good stuff, I can call on family or friends to help me out. I'm comfortable knowing that I'm not paying for moral relativism (and worse) to be spewn forth in my bedroom.

I'm not at all shocked by the choices these people make toward programming, but I am still disgusted. This gives me an even greater incentive to encourage the folks in their campaign for a la carte tv. When I don't have to pay for companies which support this tripe, I might consider paying for more than five channels (UPN isn't available at all, in my town).
