Good reason for fingerprint checks

According to this AP release from the local ABC affiliate, IL's DCFS has severed a contract with one Village Investment Program because, while all of their employees passed a standard name-check, VIP had 7 employees whose fingerprints, when run through the FBI database, were shown to have criminal backgrounds.

Fortunately, there seems to have been no known harm done to the children -- at least, none that anybody is admitting... but then, DCFS isn't always forthcoming about their more-than-occasional failure to protect. They are, after all, a bureaucracy, which, by the very nature of the beast, shelters its own hindquarters before all others.
