Who's the choice for UN Cinderella?

Captain Ed at CQ understandably is not happy that the Bush administration has chosen to actually send somebody to the "Freaker's Ball", the 60th anniversary party for the UN. He thinks that the president should make his dissatisfaction with that corrupt organization by having nobody represent us at their bash. Instead, Bush is sending Ambassador Sichan Sif, the United States representative to the Economic and Social Council.

Personally, I think this is an ideal choice. Isn't the function of this council to deal with human rights violations? What, precisely, were the UN's high mucky-mucks doing with Saddam while he was violating his own people's basic rights so?

Yeah, Sif's is a lowly office, but sending this man to the ball is a really sneaky way to remind the UN what their so-badly-neglected primary function was supposed to be: the well-being of all humanity.
