According to this Chicago Tribune article, my bearded, Castro-worshipping, Saddam-loving, mediocre-movie-making, physical counterpart (I would have said "male", too, but it would be sexist of me to mention that difference, wouldn't it?), Michael Moore was so offended by the cancellation of his appearance at Cal State San Marcos last year that he has established a scholarship for students "who have done the most to fight for issues of student rights by standing up to the administration".
So, does this mean he would revoke his scholarship if the student decided, after he arrived at Cal State San Marcos, that he wanted to devote his time to actual STUDIES, and not to being a provocateur? Or does he believe that flipping the bird at administrators is always the best way to spend one's academic career? Would he provide this same scholarship if the administration announced it was supporting Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez?
I encourage rich people to create funding for education. In the long haul, it's usually the best-spent money around. I just hoped Moore and his ilk would actually fund education, instead of just funding adolescent wanking.
