Power Line's John Hindrakerposted this quote not included in the brief channel 6 article I linked in my earlier blog on the topic of bad politics passing itself off as art:
"The exhibit's curator, Michael Hernandez de Luna, said the inquiry "frightens" him.
'It starts questioning all rights, not only my rights or the artists' rights in this room, but questioning the rights of any artist who creates – any writer, any visual artist, any performance artist. It seems like we're being watched,' he said."
What bugs me is, if you're an artist, and your work is made for public consumption, you ought to know people will watch you -- especially when you choose to create or promote controversial works. It's part of the life of any artist, and is, in fact, one of those things many artists hope for great gobs of (pardon the preposition on the end of the sentence). It's called either "fame" or "infamy". So this wimpy, wussy, scawwed widdle de Luna guy is either an idiot, a scam artist trying to promote his agenda via paranoia, or a Lunatic. I tend to believe, in this case, it's the middle choice. With a soupcon of the third option. And a heaping of the first.
