A true patriot, Obama

I am convinced, after hearing President Obama's speech before the General Assembly of United Nations, after his actions to insult all our free and loyal allies, after his kiss-up to Russia in the midst of its late season of aggression toward its free neighbors, etc., that the POTUS is a patriot, indeed.

Barack Obama, like many of those whose lives are built around leftism and academia (but I repeat myself), truly loves his country. He just can't stand the people who live in it.

Birthers are half-right

President Obama needs to release his original birth certificate for complete public examination. I don't think, though, that it will change or even remotely challenge the legitimacy of his presidency -- I think his actions will do that on their own.

No, I believe Barack Obama needs to release his actual, verifiable, original birth certificate because he and his entire party promised the country that they would have the most ethical, the most transparent administration in American history, or something to that effect. The operative word was "transparency", however it was phrased. And, yet, everything and then some has been kept behind closed doors. We don't know with whom he's meeting, we don't know whose advice he follows (remember, Bill Ayers is "just a guy in the neighborhood", and Rev. Wright is "not the man I know"), and we don't know anything about his actual personal past. Every other president -- indeed, this past generation, every candidate -- has been expected to open up his history for close examination. We even, I believe, have George W. Bush and William J. Clinton's grade school report cards to peruse for our entertainment. We certainly got the play-by-play of their colorectal exams.

For all that the media and the far left made hay of the Bush administration's desire for secrecy when meeting with non-governmental advisors, when dealing with international terrorists, and so on, that administration, by comparison, is a bunch of grotesque exhibitionists. The "most transparent administration ever" needs to release Obama's birth certificate, college transcripts, bank records, real estate transactions, legal case history, alliances with organizations, and anything else which might give the public an inkling as to his track record.

Of course, as long as Obama continues to hold out, he can take delight in feeding suspicions, and, in the process, making those who demand transparency from him look as nutty as the birthers.
Where is the media on this? Complicit, of course. They aid him in selling the entire of the conservative half of the nation as neocon crazies, by airing those at events who foam at the mouth, without covering the many thousands more who are simple, ordinary Americans objecting to a radical reworking of their heretofore largely successful system, objecting to a radical escalation of government controls, objecting to the subsequent radical escalation of the deficit and debt. The media demonizes middle America, Obama encourages this, and they wonder why ratings continue to slip. I'd say that was pretty transparent.

White House Antigonish

The man who, while in the Illinois legislature, had a long record of voting "present" is at it again, this time from the White House. Or is it worse than that? He's there, but he's not even offering a vote. He has "harsh words"... terms like "deeply concerned" about just about everything, but from North Korea's aggressive stance toward our nation to Iran's independence movement, we get nothing of substance. The candidate brought into office by Acorn, it would seem, really is the empty suit he was when he was still in Springfield, and the world is learning it now.

Hughes Means had it right, without ever having known the Obamessiah.

Is the media worm turning?

From the AP today:

Obama pledges to slash deficit — after increase

Is this a sign that the MSM are waking from the enchantment, is the honeymoon over? Can it be?

Or is it just a single voice in the wilderness they call "journalism"?

Maybe it's only a tease, to make us believe the MSM can be unbiased about their Saviour...

Your tax dollars subsidizing Hollywood

Technically, it's a tax cut - no stimulus, no actual help hiring the unemployed -- it's just a gift from the Democrats to the propaganda machine that keeps promoting them against national interests. That is to say, Congress is readying itself to give a quarter of a billion dollars in tax subsidies to one of the richest, most successful industries in the country.

With that "stimulus" or "bailout" in mind, I'm thinking that, since we're all taxpayers, we now become part-owners of the studios, so we should be able to go into the nearest cinema, sit down and watch a show without paying for anything but what we pick up at the concession stand. Maybe not every week, but shouldn't we be able to catch at least one free blockbuster per taxpayer, this year? After all, you've paid for it already.

Of course, the problem with this plan is that we first have to find a flick they've produced which we want to see. So far, those pickings are pretty slim.

Update:
Well, that didn't take long. It looks as though this particular little gift has been removed from the Generational Theft Act already. Dang, and I was so hoping to see a crappy blockbuster show this year....

I am not Joe -- but I'd like to be, someday

Not really.

I'm one of the people Joe has already helped out. I'm the person who, not so long ago, had to break down and ask the taxpayers to help me make ends meet. I didn't ask for everything they told me, at the office, I was qualified to receive. I only got the minimum, and felt like crap for having to ask it.

I would like to think that someday soon, I will be able to rise above my peculiarities and disabilities, and draw a genuinely healthy paycheck. I'd like to believe that, when I do, I will not be subject to the kind of treatment proffered this other private citizen. At least, one should hope this will be the last time this happens to a simple voter with an honest question. Especially when he was invited to ask a question, in his own front yard, in the first place. The only reason they're going after him today is that their sainted candidate of choice slipped up and gave away his true intentions in answering this plumber, Joe. Anybody who is not appalled and frightened by this reaction by the press and the Obamists is clearly not thinking ahead, and/or has no concept of history.

Someday, Joe Wurzelbacher will be that business-owner he dreams of becoming. And, someday, I, and you, too (by the grace of angels), will be Joe. And you all ought to hope we don't get this same treatment. In fact, you ought to hope the people who are perpetrating this offense today will face deeper scrutiny, and be removed from positions of authority, anywhere they are.

Obama's ad campaign: video spam

The One is spamming us.

Barack is planning to have a big half-hour ad on prime-time network television, and FOX has announced that the MLB has decided to postpone the game, if necessary, to accommodate the candidate's infomercial. I dunno about anybody else, but I'd rather watch the game, the New Adventures of Old Christine, or old Smurfs cartoons, for that matter.

He paid also to insert ads into a number of video games -- the sorts that cost a hundred dollars or more for, so why would we want to watch a commercial in the middle of it? Is there a way to blow up the video billboard for points? Can I kick the football through the offending advertisement scoreboard? I guarantee, if he were to show up in a game of Guitar Hero I was playing at my friend's house, I'd be smashing the guitar and lighting it on fire faster than you can say "Jimi."

I have had enough of political ads -- I'm tired of advertisements in general, but "my opponent is a liar and I'm here to save you from him" stuff is the worst of all. I've seen enough ads from all sides by the end of the previous fall to have me swearing off political discussions until after the elections.

I now officially hope Obama's spamming us backfires on him.

Post Scriptum: It would serve him right if McCain or the RNC bought a minute or two at the end of Obama's time, for "rebuttal," and showed film of Hoovervilles while talking about Obama's tax plans. How much would one minute during that time frame cost them?

Logorrhea and Obama

Okay, I know that the word "logorrhea" does not have anything to do with a logo, but then, I, myself, could prattle on for hours...

Anyway, what's on my tiny mind today is something I only noticed this morning as I was atrying to wake up and shoo the cats off my person, so I could take care of my early morning rituals in the room of rest.

What I noticed was, this logo

seems to be not terribly original.

I don't know why I didn't notice it sooner, except that, as I rise, I usually don't look at the television screen. My eyes are bleary, and my time is limited, so I listen to the report while in motion. But I'm quite certain that particular logo has been on the wall behind the men for a very long time...

Who is paying for the Obama Channel on Dish?

Dish Network, the satellite television company, is offering a brand new channel, according to Michelle Malkin. The station is All Obama All the Time. If that isn't big-brotherly enough, the commenter who called Dish about it came back with the info that it's a bought-and-paid-for advertising channel, in the same vein as those home shopping networks.

My question is, who is paying for this 24-hours-a-day ad? The party surely doesn't have that kind of cash, does it? If it does, why the hell isn't it using it to support its other candidates for lesser offices? Why did it go begging Obama for some of his treasure chest, only last month, only to be rebuffed?

Where is this funding coming from?

A video to make a history buff's skin crawl

This is all over the interwebs today:

Now, I don't know about everybody else, but my first reaction was to recoil in horror and dread. Put this alongside the Obamists' threats against free speech, and it feels like it's all part and parcel with events in my grandparents' day:

About the only real difference I can sense, so far, is that Obama isn't remotely nationalist, and neither are his followers.

Jonah Goldberg has a good argument against those who fantasize there is an equivalent in more current times, closer to home.

Obama: phoning it in

So, Barack thinks his job as Senator is less important than his campaign. From a personal perspective, he's probably right. But from my end of things, I'd like to believe that the man this state elected had us at the top of his list of priorities.

So, why the hell isn't he back in D.C., doing his actual, paying job? Obama can't even vote his favorite position, present, if he's nowhere near the capital.

And, as long as he's phoning in this job, why isn't the McCain campaign running with this?

"I spent a lot of time on the phone..." followed by a segment from this:
Do you really want a president who, in a worldwide crisis, is willing to just phone it in? Obama. Not ready to be president.

Community Organizer, friends helped create current bank meltdown

NY Post has the story, with details from Stanley Kurtz. And American Thinker's Ed Lasky brings up a few more of the Comunity Organizer's compadres and their contribution to this season's mess.

Friends in low places.

I could seriously become a tinfoil-hat-wearing conspiracy theorist, at this rate.

Another Obamist assault on the First Amendment

They used sql bombs to shut down blogger MacRanger at Macsmind.

They can no longer legitimately defend their candidate, it seems, so they have taken to silencing successful dissent.

This calls for lifting the line from Glenn Reynolds, about how "They told me that if George W. Bush were re-elected there would be brazen efforts to suppress free speech on political grounds -- and they were right!"

"I have a bracelet, too" and the family asked me to stop using it

Wow. The bracelet the Obama waved in front of the camera during the debate the other night is not the asset he says it is. According to Warner Todd Huston, the family had asked the senator to stop using it in his campaign ... back in March.

Between his callous disregard for the wishes of a supporter in order to benefit himself and his campaign and his campaign's callous disregard for the United States Constitution, this guy is really starting to raise my hackles.

Update: And somehow, somebody expressed things better than I could: check out what sepierce has to say.

(HT: Commenters at lgf)

Update again: It seems that the issue of the bracelet is largely a misunderstanding. Sort of.

Tuskegee revisited

Recently, the Obama chatter has been revolving around Michelle ... again. One might think it's because of the Miss Nelly Nice performance she gave on that ABC morning Cacklefest, but, no, this time it's actually about the woman and her work:

She also altered the hospital’s research agenda. When the human papillomavirus vaccine, which can prevent cervical cancer, became available, researchers proposed approaching local school principals about enlisting black teenage girls as research subjects.

Mrs. Obama stopped that. The prospect of white doctors performing a trial with black teenage girls summoned the specter of the Tuskegee syphilis experiment of the mid-20th century, when white doctors let hundreds of black men go untreated to study the disease.

It seems to me, that in denying girls access to treatment designed to prevent certain demonstrably preventable cancers, she has not chased away the specter of Tuskegee, but just brought it back to life.

The US government researchers at Tuskegee didn't overtly infect men with syphillis -- they denied some of those men treatment. They were wrong to do so on uninformed persons. It was an abomination performed in the name of scientific advancement.

Her policy choice has likely doomed these girls to a reverse-sex version of the same experiment, denying life-saving treatments to people in the name of a church-reinforced paranioa. Congratulations, Ms. Obama, you have met the enemy, and they is you.
