World Cup frustrating

Actually, I have always enjoyed watching a good soccer (or, if yer a furriner -- football) match or two, when my stress levels allow it. Unfortunately, I have been known to get so involved in the sport that I've done damage to the television set while responding to a play or a call...

So, I am here to say, that I sat down with Mom this afternoon, for just a few minutes between other activities, and we watched a bit of one of the matches. I lasted all of ten minutes before I had to quit -- not from excitement, but from frustration. At the fashions.

What happened to the good old days, when all those really fit young men ran around the field in real shorts? And what are those things they're wearing now, as part of the uniforms? Have these men no sense of pride in their thighs?

They did the same thing to basketball, this past few years. Used to be, you could go down to the courts and see bunches of trim young guys in shorts
Michael in Short shorts that would just about give daisy dukes a run for their money.

That was the practical design. When you were working up a sweat, you didn't have to worry about losing your cute little shorts -- they were snug enough to stay on with no fuss, and short enough to allow for total air flow. But now, they have this long baggy stuff. Which, BTW wouldn't be so bad, if only there were occasional oopsies. I could stick around for that. But NOOOoooo. They have managed to make the trousers big enough to be ugly and secure enough to be dull.

This baggy hip-hop fashion thing has ruined another sport for me. Next thing you know, surfers will be wearing floppy dry suits, Surfersuit.
and Lance Armstrong will start promoting sail-pants for cross-country biking.
