What the hell's cooking in Galesburg?

The locals are a little concerned about the third fire in as many weeks in downtown Galesburg. According to Fire Chief John Cratty, this latest fire had multiple starting points, which makes it "of suspicious origin", but fortunately did not completely destroy the building where it began.

Nobody was hurt in this blaze.

The old WAIK-AM radio station building was in the process of being refitted to become a new Italian restaurant (as if Galesburg really needed another Italian food place. Why can't somebody open a nice Korean or Vietnamese or Greek restaurant in the area? but I digress). The new owners of the property had been insured, and, according to the interview they gave to the local tv station (I can't recall whether I saw it on the
ABC or NBC affiliate), they expect to have the place repaired and the restaurant opened within six weeks. I wish them well... even though they aren't opening a German bierstube or an Indian vindaloo and samosas carry-out.
