Shopping mom, Ford Exploder lead to tragedy

A Rock Island, IL, mother went shopping and left her three small kids unattended in their Ford Exploder yesterday, and, according to this report, only two of the kids survived. The four-year-old helped the two-year-old out of the seatbelt and out of the flaming car, but couldn't get the infant out of the baby seat in time.

I'm sorry for those two little survivors, on a number of diferent levels. For starters, what idiot leaves three children, all under the age of five, in a car while he/she goes shopping? And, according to one person interviewed on one of the local tv stations last night, the car was smoking rom under the hood when mommy went indoors. So, she blithely leaves her kids in a car, in the middle of winter, in the middle of a parking lot, for who knows how long, with a smoking engine? Was this worse than idiocy? Was this an attempt at an Andrea Yates redux?
