I don't think Clyde has quite figured out that I won't share my breakfast sandwich with him (or anybody) -- not out of selfishness, but because nobody else needs my germs (eww). He can gaze balefully at me all he wants, and he still won't get a nibble of whatever-the-heck I'm gnawing on.
Now, Grampaw, on the other hand, is the perfect target in the kitchen.
Even with his back to everything and everybody, he gets those vibes and ends up tossing some tasty treat to Clyde.
What a pushover!
