Ever since I was a little girl, I've been a football fan. Mostly, I've been torn between being a Bears' fan and Packers' fan (no mean feat, where the rivalry is this intense). Part of the reason I cheer for the Bears is that they're my home team -- I was born on the south side of Chicago, in the baddest part of town (in the background, I can hear the music of Jim Croce, as I type, so forgive, please).
But I cheer for the Pack because my daddy does.
Now, one of the heroes of the Packers is gone. Max McGee, the man who caught the first touchdown pass in Super Bowl history, fell off his roof in Minnesota, Saturday, and died from his injuries.
McGee was 75.
