Dubya looks to be thwarted by Congress -- again, and for all eternity for partisan reasons -- in appointing his current choice to AG.
Schumer has shown his (and probably the party's majority) true colors by indicating that he doesn't want Bush to appoint Mukasey to replace Gonzales as AG. As Ed Morrissey points out, Schumer was for Mukasey before he was against him -- that is, Mukasey was good enough for SCOTUS, once upon a time, and now he doesn't belong in the top DoJ position?
And, Bush has picked Mukasey over the infinitely qualified Ted Olson...
So, if Schumer & the Dems refuse to approve Mukasey, will Dubya simply say "screw 'em," and put in Olson, or somebody comparable? Did he learn a lesson from previous appointment hearings? Can it be that his plan was to do just that, all along?
Hmmmm.
