My secret is out

Due to my knee issues, I wear through my shoes unevenly and rapidly, so I am always in need of practical, sturdy new walking shoes. Today, with some cash my mother gave me along with the chocolate for Christmas, I went and got these puppies. I, Imelda.001
The socks were on sale, as well, for under $2 per pair, so I bought 2 identical pairs. I, Imelda.002

I didn't really think about it. I liked them, they fit me, and they were in my price range. Plus, the shoes have pretty good support and stability (a total switch, considering what I usually find for under 150 buckaroos not in orthopedic clodhoppers). I wore them to dinner with the extended family (we're polishing off Christmas leftovers, still).

After supper, we all went into the tv room, and as I was sitting with my feet up on the foot rest of the recliner, four-year-old Stella studied those feet for the longest time, then looked up at me and informed me, "I knew you weren't a grown-up!"
