Somebody needs to hire an English-speaking editor

Local ABC affiliate WQAD posted this lulu of a header on their website: July Employment Numbers Up In July. I sat for several minutes wondering, as opposed to, say, July numbers having been down in June? I would hope July's numbers were down in June, and down again in August, or I'm going to have to rethink the space-time continuum. (Okay, the good news is that IL Employment was up in July. Now fix the article.)

And that wasn't the only little prize for the wandering grammar-and-spelling-cop. Take a second look at this: "So far this year, there has been 69-thouand-300 jobs created in Illinois, the best start to a year since 1998."

The lack of subject-verb agreement (there has been jobs?), plus that bizarre method for writing out 69,300 -- and the leaving out of a letter in that, to boot! -- indicates a wee lack of attention to detail.

Who writes this slish, anyway -- 5th graders?
