Got a Beef... recipe? We're looking for you

The Prime Beef Festival is in less than a month, and their Third Annual Prime Beef Cook-Off organizing committee is looking for more contestants. My friend Marsha (now a member of the committee) won the all-around best last year, and says that it's the most fun she has all fall...

And they have a really spiffy logo for the cook-off, this year. Rumor has it that (a) somebody close by designed it, and (b) it may be printed onto the aprons every participant will receive.

If you live within a reasonable drive* of Monmouth, like a good beef dish, have your own version of the recipe, and are willing to cook it up for the likes of me and Marsha, please consider entering the contest to be held 10 September. There's a cash prize for each of 3 major categories, plus you get a year's worth of bragging rights as the Best with Beef, or a Prime Chef.

When you read the article in the Register-Mail, it says that there's an entry fee of $5, but then, it doesn't really follow that up with a reminder that Galesburg's Thrushwood Farms will provide the cooks with whatever cut of meat they choose, at no extra cost. Therefore, I think the fee is a bargain. Please, be bold and cook for us.

* Update: I have been reminded that, on the same weekend as the Prime Beef Festival, the National Stearman Fly-In occurs in Galesburg. So, you don't even have to be within a reasonable driving distance, if you just want to fly in for the contest, then fly back out again... heh.
