Alien invasion in IL! Send troops!

I woke up this morning to see video of this on the local news: Mysterious Crop Circles In Geneseo. Soybeans flattened! Gasp! And all the plants are flattened in the same direction: clockwise! Egad!
In a news release the sheriff is asking anyone who's seen a UFO with soybeans attached to it to call Crime Stoppers.
In related news, there is a rumor floating around Monmouth that ICE did a roundup of illegal aliens, and arrested over a hundred working at Farmland's meat packing plant on the city's outskirts. Nothing has been confirmed, as yet. Not that I expect our local paper to cover news of captured aliens (even if it were to have really happened during daylight hours with a mob throwing vegetables at both aliens and ICE agents)... at least, not outside the movie reviews. Come to think of it, our local paper's editor decided it was front-page newsworthy on Saturday to print a picture of spider webs on his dashboard.

I haven't developed high expectations, yet, of any of my local news sources...

After all, I heard both the local ABC affiliate and the NBC affiliate open with almost exactly the same words when describing the situation with Israel/Lebanon -- in effect, that Israel was making the enforcement of the UN resolution re: border security more difficult by refusing to accept some countries troops along their border. That is, it's all Israel's fault that they can't trust 3 Islamic countries with strongly fundamentalist ties (and a large portion of their population which supports the idealogies of Al Qaeda and like-minded organizations, and whose governments still refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist) to stand guard and protect private citizens from Islamic terrorist groups like Hizballah. (Why Israel doesn't just sit down and be quiet while everybody who hates them has his say and gets his licks in, I don't know. Must be a Zionist conspiracy. Brought about by aliens.)

Run for your lives! It's the Soybean Pod people! Damned extraterrestrials are taking over everywhere! And they're carrying AP/Reuters ID cards!
