Gratuitous post card: harnessing steam

Some days it only seems natural to think that we learned to harness heat and have it do our bidding, as with the John Bull EnginePostcard: John Bull Engine first built in 1830.

If only we could harness the heat from the highways, today, I think we could probably at least get to Mars.

My bestest friend is coming home from Chicago, today. I hope the roads don't buckle underneath her car, from all the heat, the way WQAD says they did near Andalusia (they have video, too, I gather, but with my slow modem, I'm not going there).

If you're on the road in this heat, please be careful.
