BIll Baar, at Illinoize, brings up Blagojevich's observation that we citizens of the Land of Lincoln are too dim to be able to decide by referendum vote a "Complex Issue with enormous moral consequences"... the death penalty. The guv and one of the Republican contenders in the upcoming battle for his seat, Edwin Eisendrath both agreed, when questioned, that this great and grave issue should be handled by the experts in Springfield. Even Jim Oberweis seemed to think it should be left to the elected officials, rather than those who elected them in the first place.
Judging by the kinds of representatives the general electorate keep selecting, however, perhaps these men are correct in their assessment of the public mental capacities...
So, whom to trust? hmmmmmm.
