Democrats happy about failure

Is it just me, or does anybody else find it troubling that the one time during the SOTU address, last night, that the Democrats stood up and cheered was when the Prez commented on the failure of Social Security reform? These guys were proud of obstructionism? They were pleased to say that they had a very large hand in thus far guaranteeing that those who are just starting to pay into the program today will be heavily taxed for something which will not give them any return, by the time they qualify for it. "Screw the younger generation!" is their happy battle cry?

If this is what the Democrats stand up and cheer for, color me worried.

I always knew that my own senior Senator was a petulant child and/or a hypocrite, but to see them all so proudly waving their middle digits at the future makes me ashamed that I was ever connected with the party in my own dissolute youth.

Update: It looks as though the campaign is already launched. (via Instapundit)
