Three file to oppose Lane Evans, next election.
I dunno, but I haven't heard all that impressive a list of accomplishments by Brian Gilliland of Aledo... he's a businessman, with no major failures, in a region which has had plenty of growth anyway as a bedroom community for the Quad Cities. And I'm not sure how all-fired wowed I should be by the real estate guy, Jim Mowen. I do recall seeing his signs, occasionally -- for sale, signs, that is.
I did like Andrea Zinga, last time she ran. Her problem was that she was too darned direct: she mentioned Lane Evans's illness, and asked how much longer he could actually do the job (Evans has a degenerative disorder, but that hasn't interfered with his staff's doing the bulk of his job for the past 3 terms). Better she should have quizzed him on how he has helped his constituents, from his position of power. I, for one, can tell her we've gotten little to nothing from him, out here in Forgottonia. And, my friend ex sailorette could give you chapter and verse about how he has failed female veterans under his aegis.
My fingers are crossed, that Zinga has figured out how to mention a man with an escalating disability, point out how little he has done on the job without making him an object for the pity vote again. That way, it doesn't really matter whether she gets the Republican ticket or one of the men does... at least we'll have rid ourselves of another idjit, and we stand a (very remote) chance of getting somebody useful.

I believe Zinga was too harsh
and too many vets and disabled persons took her stinging tongue personally!
but Evans sucks!
anon, I actually heard the full extent of what Zinga said about Evans. Speaking as one on partial disability, I couldn't find fault with her on this issue. It was a fair question, about his health possibly (probably) continuing to deteriorate, and likely interfering in the job he was supposed to do. His attendance record may have been really good, but his performance review? Nuh uh. He was present in the same way I was present for my 8 o'clock chemistry class in college (don't tell my parents, yet. I still have hopes of converting that "incomplete" from 1982). Evans and a few of his supporters came out & twisted Zinga's point to make it sound as though she had said, "he's a cripple and therefore can't do the job". The media lapped it up.
But, still, she lacks tact. Kinda like John Bolton. Heh. Maybe I will support her.
