Good news for Galesburg workers

In the Register-Mail today, we're informed that Carhartt will continue to manufacture its hooded jackets locally.

Galesburg has been hit with a number of large plant closings, and it's nice to see at least one corporation is not running for Mexico, regardless of the high cost of doing business in IL.

I hope the asterisks in Springfield do something rational to encourage more businesses to stay, and more still to move in. But between the unions and the state, I don't see much opportunity for growth, down here. Unfortunately, most Democrats seem to think that the solution to shrinking sources for income is to jack up the taxes to the remaining few... thus shutting down still more businesses. I can imagine the marketing lines they offer: "Move your industry to Illinois -- we're well worth the extortionate taxes" or, "You'll feel good about giving everything to the Land of Lincoln".
