I'm a poster child

Again with the large pauses between posting blogs...

This time, while I've learned to cope with the loss of fuzzbucket, I'm distracted now by actual productive activities. I was commissioned to create the promotional posters for our local orchestra(Monmouth Civic Orchestra, or MCO)'s spring concert. Being the sort of person I am, I could hardly just toss a bunch of text onto a page and let it go at that. Instead, I've been photoshopping for hours, trying to get a gazillion-meg collection of images to squish onto an 8x11 sheet of paper, and still have it legible at a distance.

I used to do this sort of thing manually. I begin to miss the smell of ink and rubber cement -- especially in a small, enclosed space. The buzz from internet surfing isn't quite the same, somehow, as the glue high. Of course, that may explain why I'm still nuts, after having been a graphic artist in my dissipated youth. I gather that adhesives stick to your brain cells for a long time...

Still, if anybody is going to be near the city of Monmouth, IL, around the 30th of April, my best friend Mari is going to be playing cello in the orchestra, and, for a small-town organization, MCO produce a very professional sound. I invite you to come give her -- and them all -- a listen. They're scheduled to perform Debussy, Faure, Massenet, and some bonnes chansons, according to the director, Donna Hauge.

I'll probably mention them again -- no doubt as my project gives me more aggravation...
