I know what I'll be doing in late June

I missed the events last year, due to illness, but one of the many reasons I have refused job offers outside the western IL region has been Galesburg's annual Railroad Days.

Their local paper, the Register-Mail , lists proposed expansion for this year's events, and some of them could lure me out even from my deathbed, if they actually happen:

'The Orpheum Theatre will show the movie "Silver Streak" on Friday and a concert is scheduled for Saturday.'

The first time I saw "Star Wars" it was on the big screen at the Orpheum, in the days when it was solely a movie theater. The building still has its old-gold-charm, since it was restored for concerts and other high-class social events. I'd love to see a colossal runaway train movie like "Silver Streak" on their glamorous silver screen.

And, the concerts performed by the Knox-Galesburg Symphony feature several musicians who also perform for the Monmouth Civic Orchestra (in small towns, performing artists are the finest example of intercommunity cooperation), including my best friend, who continues to wield one awesome cello.

There's a lot more to seduce me to drive the whopping 18 miles (even at projected gas costs!), but I can't afford to get my hopes TOO high, at this stage.
