After having a downstairs neighbor in my apartment building make a "quick and easy" version of the stuff, that everybody from Wrigley Field to Ohare, & from the Ravenswood el terminal to the northern reaches of Morton Grove could smell, I am pleased to say that it looks as though somebody has found a REALLY good reason for kimchi.
So far, there is no word on a practical purpose for my mom's grandmother's sauerkraut recipe, however. And I am betting there will never be a reason for anybody making my dad's mom's spaghetti sauce. Unless the restriction against chemical warfare is lifted.
