Over the weekend, other cats' deaths made headlines:
Sandra Dee and Hunter Thompson
These two were icons of their respective decades: Sandra Dee served to represent the wholesome ideal of teens for the 1960s, a picture of innocence and idealism, the gentle kitten. Hunter Thompson was the ultimate cynic, an alley tomcat who had survived a few too many fights.
Between the two of them, I'd put my money behind Dee every time. You may not live longer being nice and wholesome and a little naively optimistic, but it's easier to live with yourself in the long run.
Of course, I begin to learn this AFTER having tried for decades to pretend I was Thompson-material.
